Children's Shoe Purchasing Tips

It's a joy watching your children grow up. They're so carefree and happy. They love to run and play. Everything is just fine, except for a slight issue. You see, they begin to complain about their feet hurting.

Question:
Did you know that you should have your child's feet measured every 3 months? I hope so, but if you didn't know this, let me help you out. Here are some tips to help you along the way.

Tips For Proper Shoe Purchase
  1. Have a trained shoe salesman measure your child's feet. The proper foot measurement is the first step to making sure the shoes you purchase will fit well. Make sure they have the same measurement for each foot. Some children's feet grow uneven during their younger years, and this is something to watch for.
  2. If there are recommended sock that go with the shoes you're going to purchase, get them. A lot of times, they fit much better than a different brand, and are more comfortable.
  3. Make sure that when your child walks, the heel of the foot doesn't slide toward the front. If this happens, the shoe is the wrong size for the child. A properly fitted shoe will hold the heel in place, and firmly.
  4. Always check to see if there's a thumb's width between the end of the shoe and the tip of their longest toe. This is to ensure that there is room to grow. It's important to pay more attention to fit, and less to size.
  5. A lot of toddlers are flat-footed when they begin to walk, and never develop the "natural arch" until around 4-5 years old. It's important to purchase shoes with less height in the arch, which is perfect for their younger years.
  6. Please, please, please......purchase shoes that will provide the right cushioning throughout the foot-bed of the shoe. This is important because children consistently take several hundred tons of force on their feet throughout the day. The right type of shoe will provide shock protection, and absorb a lot unwanted pressure from their little feet.
I hope these tips help you make the right decision when shoe shipping for your little ones.

Sincerely,
The Caring Mom
